Climate Champion awards

What is a Climate Champion?

A Climate Champion is a Maple Ridge resident, business or organization that’s taking action to fight climate change.

It could be…

  • a teacher helping their students learn about climate change and what each of us can do to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • an architect who designs buildings to high efficiency standards.
  • a builder who recycles materials during demolition, rather than sending it all to the landfill.
  • someone who advocates for active transportation, from safe cycling and walking routes to more extensive and frequent buses and trains.
  • a person who cycles everywhere by choice.
  • a business that’s committed to reducing their emissions through purchasing, operations or delivery.
  • an individual who reduces their own emissions through energy retrofits to their home, different transportation and food choices, or impressive efforts to reduce waste.
