March to End Fossil Fuels
Fast, fair, forever
The heat is on, and Maple Ridge is taking a stand. On September 17 at 11:00 a.m. community members from all walks of life will join hands and raise their voices.
Join your friends and neighbours as we march for the climate at Maple Ridge's City Hall. This event is part of a global movement, with millions of people around the world demanding an end to the era of fossil fuels.
Our six demands:
No New Fossil Fuels: We call for a halt to new projects, financing, subsidies, and approvals for fossil fuel-related activities.
Equitable Phase-Out: We advocate for a just and rapid phase-out of existing fossil fuel infrastructure in line with the 1.5°C temperature limit, coupled with global cooperation.
Renewable Energy Access: We demand increased commitments to scale up financial support and technology transfers for renewable energy and Just Transition processes.
Reject Greenwashing: We stand against false solutions such as offsets, CCS, and geoengineering, advocating for genuine climate action.
Hold Polluters Accountable: We insist that coal, oil, and gas corporations take responsibility for the damage they've caused and pay reparations for climate loss and damage.
End Corporate Capture: We reject the influence of fossil fuel corporations in shaping climate policies and undermining global responses to climate change.
Whether you’re a student, a parent, a business owner, or a concerned citizen, your presence will add strength to this important message.
